For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, (Titus 2:11-12 NIV)
Yes it’s hard to be godly in this present age, but the scripture says that the grace of God teaches us to say “no” to the temptations of this world. It’s the only thing that will help us say no, so if you’re trying to pull yourself out of your current act of ungodliness then it’s gonna be harder than ever, and it’s not gonna work. That’s how back and forth cycles start, and you saying “this is that last time” about a thousand and one times start. More extreme, this is how the silent spiritual death starts. Realize that you need God. Your strength alone is not sufficient. The only self control you can truly have is when you submit to God. The “you against the world” mindset will leave to being trapped into the things of this world. So give up the act of “I can to it all by myself” and receive God’s grace which He freely offers to you once you give His life to Him. In Him you are made righteous and holy, and you WILL conquer the things of this world.
