Obedience is
better than sacrifice. ( 1 Samuel 15:22 )
So this verse
has been one that I've always remembered, but it has taken me a while to fully
grasp. I am interpreting it with new wisdom and knowledge and a wanted to share
my thoughts on it with you all. Although it is important to be sacrificial,
obedience comes from the heart.
• Obedience is being in accordance to / in
compliance with something or someone. Sacrifice is giving up something for a
greater reward
• We obey our parents because we love, respect,
and honor them right? God wants the same from us. He wants us making choices
not because we are trying to gain eternal life (Jesus died for that) but
because we love and honor Him.
• When you become truly obedient to God,
sacrifice won't feel like sacrifice. It will feel like letting go of dead
weights.
• When you're trying to minister to someone
don't focus on making them give up their lifestyle, focus on encouraging them
to start loving God. With that love for God will come obedience and with that
obedience will come to slow death of that old lifestyle.
